Hmmm...Lambo SUV??

So it’s real: Lamborghini is making an SUV. You heard me right, the kind of car with insane horsepower and the practicality to bus kids around town.

There is however a catch. Lamborghini has not released the Urus on their website or publicly. It did appear at some car shows like Pebble Beach and Beijing. But the famous London based YouTuber Lord Aleem (whose dad owns a sports car rental company with the biggest fleet of Rolls in the UK) recently mentioned that they put down a deposit for a Urus.

Thou might ask, what is this Urus? Well, Lamborghini are making an attempt to crack the luxury-performance market by launching this new SUV. All other manufacturers like Porsche, Bentley, and even Mercedes have begun to dominate the uber expensive SUV market place.

The Urus will be no different than any other Lamborghini. Concepts and renderings show a high seating position with extenuated wheel haunches and a sharp downward sloping headline in the back. A menacing front fascia shows off classic Lamborghini traits such as an aggressive, lightweight appearance.

When looking at a rear 3/4 view, the muscular lines that extend to the Heavens look like they were carved out of the same 100% muscle material that an Aventador uses! The rear diffuser features a quad pipe exhaust that is classic Lamborghini. One could label it as obnoxious! Plus, there are some hints of Huracan with the rear lights too.

There are minimal pictures on the interior, but expect a more practical version of the minimalist cabin seen in present in the Huracan and Aventador. It will have all the neat tech like navigation and massaging seats. But don’t expect any autonomous driving in this baby (sigh).

Power better be good as this baby is facing fierce competition. The four ton Bentayga holds the fastest 0-60 time among its pudgy SUV friends at 3.5 seconds. On the electric spectrum (go Tesla!) the Model X P90D Ludicrous gets to 60 in 3.2 seconds and is expected to get 3.0 seconds when the 100D variant begins to hit the roads. Urus if you want to be a flashy Italian SUV, you better take a number if you can’t beat a Bentayga!

Price is always an issue with Lamborghinis. Since VW owns technically owns both Lambo and Bentley and the Bentley Bentayga is $230,000 standard, I can expect the Urus to start at around $250,000 with no options since Lambos are priced higher than Bentleys. Plus, people will want to get a Lambo SUV more than a Bentley due to the Italian flares. I would give this one another two years to hit the roads.
