A Grand Tour

June 25, 2015 was a pretty sad day in history...the last Top Gear episode was aired. You might remember that the Jeremy Clarkson was fired since he punched the producer because there was “inadequate” catering. His pals also left and they were picked up by Amazon Video to create a new show: The Grand Tour.

Save the date, because November 18 is the grand premier of The Grand Tour. It will be only available via Amazon Video and is free with a Prime membership. There are going to be three seasons with twelve one hour episodes with each one airing every week.

But you guys might be thinking, didn’t the BBC continue Top Gear with some other dudes? And you are correct. The only issue with that series was the presenters didn’t resemble the absurdity of Top Gear when Clarkson, Hammond, and May were at the helm. There were always awkward pauses during the show and it felt like the hosts didn’t really know anything about cars.

What shocks me about the brand spanking new show is that it is filmed in a new location every single episode. Like literally, they do the talking portions in a tent pitched in whatever country they are in. The old Top Gear was the best since they took the craziest cars out on these equally mind boggling road trips like in Vietnam, Albania, and the US. I used to hope and pray that this week's episode was going to be a special! It gets really boring after a while seeing a Ferrari whiz around a track every single episode instead of actually around the road.

And the cars are going to epic this season! Hypercars, Rolls Royces, Maseratis, and some interesting footage of a truck full Ferraris! Plus, you know that this is going to be good since Clarkson, Hammond, and May are shown racing a P1, LaFerrari, and Porsche 918 together on the same track at the same time! Bonkers! Those cars are so hard to get on one track, but The Grand Tour made it happen.

But they better make stuff happen since the budget was a whopping 4.5 million pounds! And that’s just for one episode. I definitely think that Amazon’s big bet will pay off since the Top Gear cult (myself included) will follow to wherever they can watch a truly exhilarating motoring show.
