Expensive Taken to a Whole New Level

The Bugatti Chiron, the new iteration of the legendary Bugatti Veyron. I reported earlier on this car, but I wanted to talk about the ridiculousness of the available options that the monster comes with. As you read, keep in mind that the 1,500 HP Bugatti Chiron is more of a fashion statement rather than a performance based megacar. Bring on the craziness!

So, the Chiron starts off at $2.6 million, but the super rich are going to have to break into their even bigger piggy banks when they start configuring. For example, the totally exposed carbon fiber exterior option that is all the rage in the megacar community will set you back a cool 255,000 euros!

To put that into perspective, just to get some carbon fiber is more than a Huracan Spyder in the states! Geez, and people are lining up for this stuff? Or, couldn’t that cash can be used to put a couple kids through college? Ehh, isn’t carbon fiber better than an education? ;)

Let’s get even more absurd. Want the lower body parts in carbon fiber? Then cough up 20,000 euros. These are for parts of the car that people rarely admire!

But did you know that your $2.6 million car doesn’t come with wheels. Yes that is right folks, Bugatti wants you to buy the standard set of four wheels and tires for a modest 50,000 euros. Yep guys, a good portion of a mortgage or wheels, which one seems like a better investment? Or, if you are having a hard time with the decision, consider the painted and diamond cut wheels for 60,000 euros, a true must have if you're rolling up at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco.

The madness continues inside where some carbon fiber in the car will set you back 50,000 euros as well. 25,000 for comfort seats if you really hate going over bumps also.

But there is light at the end of this very, very long tunnel. There is fully included maintenance for four years! Think BMW but with no strings attached. Considering that the Veyron’s oil change topped $20,000 and it needed all of the wheels to be changed after the fourth tire change for a staggering $120,000.

Service included but they nickle and dime you more than Porsche making you pay for a rear windshield wiper. But, many of the buyers are actually going to sell their cars in the first year at record prices and making a healthy return at the same time. A well optioned $4 million Chiron will be fetching a solid $6.5 million in the aftermarket (or more, those guys in Dubai are the ones that set the market).
