The Ford GT

The Ford GT is back for some action. Ford created the GT back in 1964 so it could take the Le Mans crown from Ferrari. A more recent version of the legendary American brute was made from 2004 to 2007 and even Jeremy Clarkson bought this $150,000 Ford. The new 2017 Ford GT, which is set to launch later this year, will restore the racing glory of Ford.

The old 2004 Ford GT was a laggard in all places except for the engine. It had a clunky, conventional metal chassis and no technology whatsoever. Sure, enthusiasts loved the cowboy inspired V12 and the purist manual transmission, but the car couldn’t handle a track like the Ferrari 599 or Lamborghini Murcielago did at the time.

Ford made sure that the 2017 would beat all of its competitors (including Ferrari). New for 2017 is the EcoBoost V6 (yes the same EcoBoost you’ll find slapped on a Ford Fiesta) that cranks out more than 600 HP! Insane from a V6! Better yet, Ford constructed the GT all out of carbon fiber which makes it easy to fling around the track.

Perhaps the greatest feat of the Ford GT is the looks. The car represents the pinnacle of aerodynamics and is at a level of perfection higher than its European counterparts. It takes the original sleek design from the first Ford GT, but adds a 21st century flair. For instance, those gaping holes that auto show goers can’t get enough of near the passenger doors also have little air intakes that suck in air to enhance the engine. Take that Ferrari, the Ford GT puts your aerodynamic-inspired designs to shame!

Inside, the Ford GT sports a minimalistic cabin with driver oriented ergonomics. The driver is the priority and Ford has put in a fully digitalized instrument cluster to make sure drivers get an exact readout of the brutal performance. Expect modern conveniences like Bluetooth, easy smartphone integration, and modern technology that other Fords have to be included. Carbon fiber and Alcantara line the simple interior. Ford wants to make drivers focus on the road instead of being distracted by a complex interior.

I can’t wait until this baby gets on the Nurburgring! There better be some good review videos on YouTube because with a price tag of $400,000, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get my hands on one of these. Also, they are only making a total of 1,000 cars and spots on the list have already been secured. Ford will be put back on the map as a respected supercar manufacturer that has some tricks up its sleeves!

I hope you guys enjoyed the post and make sure to comment! I’ll see you guys next week!
