Highlights from Geneva
Well, the 2016 Geneva Motor Show is finally upon us! There were some shockers in Geneva this year and several manufacturers took the wraps off of some highly anticipated cars. The NSX, Tesla Model X, and a new Lamborghini were debuted, but here are my top three favorites.
3. The Porsche 911R
Yeah, this baby is an enthusiast’s dream. There were some mumbles of the car coming out, but nothing was confirmed. The 911R is basically a 911 GT3 RS with a 6-speed manual transmission. It has track bred haunches with a sleek design. The sleekness is brought out with the elimination of the obnoxious wing that the GT3 RS has. Great noises, a naturally aspirated flat-six with 500 HP, and the best handling is what makes the 911R one of the best cars from the show. Expect the aftermarket prices to be astronomically high!
2. The Koenigsegg Regera
The Swedes hit a home run…again. The Regera was at the stand in its production form and it is the pinnacle of hypercar performance. Koenigsegg jammed three electric motors and a twin-turbo V8 into the wind-tunnel inspired Regera. This “plug in” produces 1,500 HP. 0-60 MPH is hit in 2.8 seconds and 249 MPH in under 15 seconds! There are only eighty cars that are going to be produced and this could be a Bugatti killer.
1. The Bugatti Chiron
It finally came! The strikingly luxurious, French hypercar has a clean design that is similar to the renderings in my post on the Chiron. It cranks out 1,478 HP and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. The Chiron has a limited top speed of 261 MPH. Fast, huh? Well, speed does come with a price…$2.6 million to be exact.
Let me know what your favorites were from the show and I’ll see you guys next week!
