The Best SUV Under $50,000

So, I think I better talk about some cars that are a little less expensive than the Koenigseggs and Bugattis that I have been mentioning lately. Without further ado, here is the best large SUV under $50,000-the $46,570 2016 Honda Pilot Elite.

You guys have already heard what my favorite bonkers SUV is and if you like that stuff, feel free to read what I have to say about the Range Rover SVR. But for more practical purposes, the Honda Pilot is the best bet.

Honda really wowed me with this redesigned Pilot. Their best selling SUV comes with clean German inspired lines and an elevated prowess like the ubiquitous Mercedes GL. But, the Honda Pilot scores so high because it compiles all of the design cues created by the Germans in a crisp package. Its sloped roof line cascades into the trunk and it minimizes the overall boxiness of the car.

Inside, the Pilot has a straight to the point cabin. Everything regarding entertainment, the AC, and navigation is controlled via the touch screen. I’ve seen this tech in the Acura MDX and it just creates mass confusion. There is a 540-watt speaker system and little Jimmy can watch Sponge Bob on the screens in the back. Any safety tech or tech in general in any German SUV is seen in the Pilot. Honda “selectively borrowed” the best of the best from the Germans!

If you’re all about versatility, then this ergonomic interior is your heaven. You don’t have to fret about each little scuff or scratch like you would in a BMW or Porsche. The heated front and rear seats can handle the wear and tear that little Jimmy and his friends offer. The Pilot seats eight in comfort and the back seats can be dropped with a touch of a button. Honda would have made my day if they designed a new all-purpose leather that embodied the likes of the Germans but still retained that no-fret attitude.

Now, this is no Range Rover SVR. The Elite features a turbocharged 280 HP V6 that is snappy around town and allows the Honda to effortlessly cruise on the highway. It is a true cruiser since it boasts a 9-Speed transmission. I’m sure drivers won’t be booking on Malibu Canyon roads! Anyway, the Pilot gets an astonishingly high 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. Pretty impressive considering that the beast weighs around two tons!

So, the Honda Pilot Elite is the best SUV under $50,000. It combines a German inspired style with the reliability and durability of a Japanese brute. The Honda blows away all of its competitors in the segment. By the way, I think that this baby is better than the MDX, the flagship SUV of Honda’s luxury brand. Do you agree? Let me know what you think and I’ll see you guys next week!
