Some new Porsches

Well, the new Porsche 911 models are out and the reviews are in. Porsche released their new 911 model range at the 2015 Frankfurt Autoshow and the new models are finally making their way to the states.

The whole range of 911s, from the Carrera to the Targa, get a turbocharged engine. In the world of Porsche, that's a big deal because it was a big no-no to have turbocharging in the lower range models. Power is upped by 20 HP in the base Carrera and Carrera S, Carrera 4 and 4S, Targa 4 and Targa 4S, and even in the Turbo and Turbo S. I find it hilarious that Porsche have this many variants of just one car! I didn't even mention the cabriolet versions which also feature the 20 HP bump too.

For all you torque fans out there, there is a noticeable jump in the grunt in all of the models mentioned above.

The only unchanged models in the 911 lineup are the GTS' since they are supposed to be naturally aspirated beasts from the get-go. Eventually, those cars will be phased out.

Aside from the bump in power, the new 911s feature minute headlamp changes, a cleaner look, some new rims, and a classic Porsche 911 rear grille that is a little bit more appealing to the eyes. Pretty much, they made the grille simpler and offered more expensive wheel options. The interior is practically the same and a new multi-touch infotainment screen offering Google Maps has been introduced. Boy did it take a long time for Audi to send that tech over!

The main reason I find these new 911s interesting is that it signifies a new Porsche-a more "resource management" driven Porsche. Not only did those engineers in Stuttgart make a faster and better handling version of their already world renowned sports car, they have shown that they want customers to get the most out of their nimble Porsche. Every 911 owner should be able to experience a zippy, turbocharged 911 without buying the ludicrously expensive 911 Turbo.

Porsche is really trying to make all of their 911s share the same racing pedigree that the old 911s had and that the Turbos have had for the longest time ever. Well, that's all I have to say. Happy holidays and I'll see you guys soon!
