My Favorite Ferrari

Ferrari holds a special place in my heart. Each car that they produce is a leader in innovation and design. Lamborghini can’t even compete with the new Ferrari range. Their Aventador SV (their most powerful car that they make right now) uses a dinosaur like V12 that can’t even match the performance of the Ferrari La Ferrari (the fastest road car that Ferrari makes). The La Ferrari uses a combination of a highly tuned naturally aspirated V12 and an electric motor to sprint to 60 MPH half a second faster than that Lambo. Speaking of the La Ferrari, my favorite Ferrari of all time has to be the La Ferrari’s big brother: the FXX K.

The Ferrari FXX K is ultra exclusive. Ferrari has the tendency to make a God-like version of their newest hyper car and put a crazy price tag on it. Coming in at 2.5 million euros, this is the most expensive car that Ferrari has ever made…ever! Just like the previous limited edition hyper cars-the FXX or the 599XX-Ferrari hand selects the buyers of this car. Yep, that’s right; Ferrari only invites people to buy this insane limited edition model. But that huge base price justifies the shear brutality of the performance.

Ferrari based the FXX K off the La Ferrari, which was a ridiculous car to begin with. Fun fact: the name of the car derives from the legendary FXX that came before the FXX K and the K comes from the KERS system that was engineered to maximize performance with the electric motor. To make it special, they upgraded the power to 848 HP from the V12 and 187 HP from the electric motor. To put that in perspective, that is roughly 86 more HP than the La Ferrari. The 2,767-pound FXX K rockets to 60 in just 2.2 seconds. The total output of the FXX K is 1,036 HP and the harmonious V12 revs its beautiful music all the way up to 9,200 RPM! This car still remains rear-wheel drive but shifts are as quick as a Ferrari F1 car with the F1 inspired transmission.

The reason why I like this hyper car the most is because of its futuristic engineering feats. This FXX K brings back memories of when Ferrari didn’t really care about emissions control or conservativeness. The FXX K is no slouch when it comes to interesting features. For instance, the beastly carbon fiber splitter in the back of the FXX K produces the most down force on any car that has been created-it creates 1,200 pounds of down force when cruising at a modest 124 MPH. And we all know, more down force means better performance and handling. Ferrari also strategically put air vents in certain places so that the strong air currents at high speeds could be directed efficiently. The result is a more sleeker, aerodynamic hyper car.

And a total review wouldn’t be complete without talking about the rear spoiler that the FXX K has. It was designed by Ferrari engineers to produce more down force than a conventional spoiler yet is lighter than the spoiler featured on the regular La Ferrari. Ferrari tries to put their “XX” cars on a diet. The FXX K’s body frame is constructed out of carbon fiber. The interior is no different. There is no AC units or leather seats in these cars. Instead, Ferrari uses Alcantara seats that are fixed to the car and the billionaires that can afford these cars are just going to have to sweat it out during their laps. These drastic weight saving measures add up when the FXX K is on the track.

Now, the FXX K brings some pretty special privileges. Due to the car’s extreme performance, customers are invited to a program called Ferrari Corse Clienti. Customers are only able to drive their track bred cars on tracks, so Ferrari has certain days where customers are invited to drive their cars on some of the best tracks all around the world. Drivers are paired with experts of both the cars and the tracks so that they can get the most out of their 1 million euro plus cars! They race on tracks like Spa Francorchamps, the world famous Ferrari testing track, and even the Abu Dhabi F1 Circuit.

In reality, the Ferrari FXX K is truly unbeatable. This combination of a ludicrously fast hyper car and a personalized approach to racing has made other manufacturers want to copy what Ferrari has. McLaren launched the P1 GTR that is modeled after their hybrid hyper car, the P1, and Aston Martin has copied the Ferrari experience by creating the Vulcan. But, nobody can beat what Ferrari has to offer. The brutality and craziness that this car has to offer can’t be copied. The FXX K will be something for the history books and anyone that will see one will never forget it. The Italians have got it 1,000% right again! Make sure to share and comment. See you soon!
