Breaking News-Straight Outta Silicon Valley

Tesla Motors, after three years of anticipation, released the Tesla Model X on September 30. This is Tesla's crack at the SUV market. They are the first in the business to create a fully electric SUV that can go from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds!

Elon Musk says that all of their technology in the Model S will now be available to more people with the new Model X SUV. The Model X does not compromise in the styling category just because it is an SUV. In fact, the Model X a stealthy, aerodynamic look that is uncommon in this segment. Even though it looks a little choppy in the rear portions, this is one beastly looking SUV!

A party pleaser will be the Falcon Doors which swing up and out of the car. There were some worries about the doors not being able to open when the Model X is parked in a tight spot. But during the presentation, Mr. Musk demonstrated the sensors that were in the doors. The sensors can detect if the door is too close to an object and will move the door in order for the passenger to safely disembark. It is fascinating that a Silicon-Valley based car company figured this out before one of the behemoths in Germany did!

The innovations also carry in to the interior (typical Tesla). The seats in the second row move upward and tilt forward so that occupants can get easily in and out of the third row. When Elon was demonstrating this, he had the crowd on the edge of their seats! Aside from the folding seats, it is standard Tesla regarding the technology aspects in the Model X.

Ok, here comes the insane power figures. The standard dual motor 90D produces 518 HP and gets to 60 in 4.8 seconds. Well, that's pretty above average since the car weighs more than 5,000 pounds. But the real insanity is with the P90D Ludicrous, the Model X gets 762 HP and a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds! To put that in perspective, that is the same 0-60 time as a McLaren F1! Bonkers!

The Tesla Model X is currently sold out. They will open up dealer sales when they fulfill all of their 30,000 preorders. It starts at around $130,000 but for the "McLaren F1 SUV" it will be $140,000 (typical Tesla). Look out Germans, the Model X will revolutionize the segment just like the Model S did.
