The Tesla Model S P85d. It is the best first car that any American car manufacturer has ever made. At first, the Model S wasn’t well received by America. Some said that it was totally unreliable. But, they were all wrong.

Let’s begin with the design. To be specific, the focus will be on the Tesla Model S P85d since it’s the pinnacle of what Tesla has to offer. Elon Musk brags that the car will rocket to 60 MPH in just 2.8 seconds. To put that in perspective, it reaches 60 faster than the legendary McLaren F1! Of course, you would need to option in the Ludicrous Package in order to achieve these physics defying speeds.

So how does the P85d achieve those speeds when it weighs 4,830 pounds? The answer is simple. When a car is powered solely by electricity, there is no lag. The power is pushed out instantly. Nothing needs to spin or fire off like in gas engine. Having the power right there makes this car worth talking about.

And the best part is that there are dual motors in the P85d. Now, there is one in the front and one in the rear. All wheel drive, 691 HP, and 713 pound feet of torque whenever you need it. Amazing. Most super cars dream about being at that level of insanity.

Tesla claims that the Model S P85d has a range of 253 miles. That is plenty and there are even free Superchargers if you are running low. The Supercharger will give the P85d an 85% charge in 40 minutes. These Superchargers are located along most major US Highways and Tesla is expanding their locations in the Midwest. The 17-inch touchscreen in the car can even find the nearest charging station, too.

At home, Tesla will install a home charging unit to use with the standard cable that comes with the car. Tesla says that it will take eight hours for the car to get a full charge from no juice at all. The dual charging option will help charge any of Tesla’s dual motors faster.

What’s even more insane than all of these performance and engineering feats is the looks. This MacBook Pro on wheels looks like a carefully handcrafted model of the best sedan that God has ever came up with. To get all of that performance, the Model S was made with aerodynamics in mind. At high speeds, the air is the biggest threat to getting those dreamed about performance figures. To solve this problem, Tesla spent countless hours sculpting the Model S in the wind tunnel and used several different computer designs. The result is a drag coefficient of just 0.25. A low drag coefficient makes the car better at high speeds and increases range.

The car is aesthetically stunning. The Gloss Black 21 inch wheels that have a slight accent of red because of the brake calipers complement the sleek body. It just screams performance. Better yet, the exterior paint on the Tesla Model S P85d rivals the likes of Bentley. The sun’s rays allow the metallic multi-coat to twinkle. The coolest part of the exterior is the door handles. Just walk forward with the key in your pocket and the door handles pop out.

But, this is no stripped out performance focused 911 GT3 RS. The Tesla Model S P85d has a cabin that puts the Mercedes S550 to shame. There is a minimalistic feel to the interior. All of the attention is put on the massive 17-inch touch screen. The materials are true Nappa Leather and the trims are made out of California wood. Make sure to option in the Premium Interior and Lighting Package, since the P85d will then become the best sub $150,000 car that is on the market.

You can’t forget about the gadgets in this car. As mentioned before, it is basically a MacBook Pro on wheels. This car features the 17-inch touchscreen display. You can surf the web, use Google Maps to find a place to eat, and even control all of the cars functions.

The most talked about feature in this car is the Autopilot Systems. Since this car was designed around technology, Tesla is releases updates to the car’s 17-inch touchscreen! Once Tesla gets the approval to release its full Autopilot system, it will be just like an update on your phone. All you need is the Autopilot Convenience Features package so that your Model S can be autonomous. The system itself works by sensing the road via sensors and by using the car’s GPS. Then, choose the destination and it goes!

Now, let’s talk about the practicality of the Tesla Model S P85d. Consumer Reports gave this car a score of 103 out of 100. That is bonkers! It was so good that it ranked higher than their scales. It is the highest rated car ever on Consumer Reports. Other people have been talking about it too. Car and Driver think that it is the best car that they have ever tested…ever. Plus, the Tesla Model S rarely needs to be serviced and there have been no major brake downs (except for that fake media coverage of a Model S on a flatbed when they first came out). All of the car’s components are electrical, so there should be no worry with reliability.

The Model S is also perfect for families. It can comfortably seat five people. With the optional foldable jump seats that are positioned in the trunk, the P85d can be a seven-seat cruiser. This car also has huge trunk space. Because there is no engine at the front, Tesla gives Model S owners the “Frunk” which is basically a mash up of the words “front” and “trunk”. Who wouldn’t want a family cruiser that could do the school run, get to 60 in 2.8 seconds, and save the planet all at the same time?

Finally, that dreaded topic, price. The Tesla Model S P85d starts at $105,000 with nothing in it. Then, add in the ludicrous speed upgrade for ten grand. Sure it’s expensive, but for $10,000 it can go faster than most supercars! Now, choose your paint; it’s $1,000 for a metallic option. At this point, go all in and upgrade the interior. Make sure to get the Next Generation Seats since they have more bolstering than the regular seats. Heck, why not; just max it out. So, maxed out with all the battery upgrades, range upgrades, and all the gadgets, the total comes out to $141,000. Check to see if your state gives any incentives since the price will shoot down to $123,500. No matter what, it is so worth it!

Tesla did everything right. They got the looks, the tech, and the safety. It was their first car, too. That’s what makes them special.
