Breaking News-A New Jaguar SUV
Breaking news! The Jaguar F-Pace has been released to the public as of Monday September 14. This marks Jaguar's entrance into the SUV market. The F-Pace was first released at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2013 and is now just being released right before the 2015 show.
Jaguar created their SUV so that it would be as athletic as their world renowned F-Type. It features an all aluminum body to corner and stop like the sports car that it is. They also took some design cues from the F-Type like the big, aggressive haunches near the front fenders and the lines on the front hood that make the F-Pace more aerodynamic.
The F-Pace features an interesting lineup of engines. There are the two supercharged engines that come directly from the F-Type - the 340HP and the 380 HP V-6s. But, there is also a European market 180 HP turbocharged I4 that creates an enormous 318 pound feet of torque. This I4 could come to the US. The 380 HP will be a growler just like the F-Type.
Inside, it is standard Jaguar trim. The leather is the same that they use in their XJ luxury cruiser. Jaguar says that they love the fact that every car features the best materials for their price point. Space in the back is pretty standard for an SUV. There is an enough room for three kids at the most.
Now, Jaguar doesn't have the best digital technology in the business. Their TFT screen is very slow yet their Meridian Sound System option is one of the best in the business. I recommend using Google Maps instead of the navigation screen in the car. There are a bunch of safety features like autonomous emergency braking and parking assistance. Jaguar has stepped it up in terms of safety technology.
The Jaguar F-Pace is aimed at people that are shopping for the Mercedes GLE, BMW X4, and even the Audi Q5. There isn't enough space in the back due to the sloping roofline. So, it doesn’t truly compete with the other models that the Germans make like the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, or the Audi Q7. Expect the Jaguar F-Pace to be available next year. Pricing is better than expected since it starts at $40,990 and goes all the way up to $69,700 for the base F-Pace First Edition. The F-Pace's design will send shockwaves throughout the industry. Jaguar will talk more about the F-Pace at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
